Summer Safety Event & Teddy Bear Mini Clinic Success

The Summer Safety Event was held to help families learn about water, bike, and sun safety as well as tips on how to stay hydrated in the summer. There was a bounce house, water slide, and various stations setup to teach children about sun safety, water safety, outdoor safety, and swimming safety. With over 500 in attendance not including the 15 local vendors that participated, the event was a great success. The event had several giveaways and even included a coloring contest and photo contest.

Anytime that there is a chance to teach children about their health, the doctors and nurses at Oklahoma ER & Hospital get excited. This excitement was the driving force behind our Sumer Safety Event and Teddy Bear Clinic, which were held in June. The Summer Safety Event was the first of its kind, aimed at families to learn about the hazards of summer. The Teddy Bear Clinic was the second one held by Oklahoma ER & Hospital due to the overwhelming success of the first one.

We would like to give a special thank you to all the vendors who participated in the Summer Safety Event. The 15 local vendors were: Top Golf, Unpluggits Paint & Play, Score OKC, Main Event, MVP Insurance, OK Chiropractic Group, The American Red Cross, GoldFish Swim School, Cowboy Chicken, Summer Snow Cone Food Truck, Browns Kitchen Food Truck, Costco, Home Maid Better, Andy’s Frozen Custard, and Body Language

The Teddy Bear Clinic was set up for kids by Oklahoma ER & Hospital to come to Heard on Hurd with their favorite stuffed animals have them get a “checkup.” These quick examinations allowed doctors and nurses to show kids how to take care of themselves, from bandaging boo-boos to eating their veggies. Oklahoma ER & Hospital staff saw more than 500 participants at the Mini-Teddy Bear Clinic, during the Hear on Hurd family-friendly street festival. The different stations we had set up included: Teddy Triage, Strong and Smart Teddy Vitamins, Beary Well Breathing Station, and Teddy Snack Shack.

June’s Summer Safety Event and Teddy Bear Mini Clinic were just two of several community events Oklahoma ER & Hospital has put on. After seeing so many families embraced our first community event, our staff was inspired to host more community outreach events like these.
