Young mother, holding tenderly her newborn baby boy

Edmond, OK, October 14, 2019 – Oklahoma ER & Hospital is proud to offer a new, revolutionary treatment for postpartum depression. The beneficial drug, Zulresso, will be available at the facility at the end of the month and can relieve women of postpartum depression symptoms in as little as 24 hours. The treatment is given through an IV and must be administered in-house.

Zulresso helps ease both emotional and physical symptoms of postpartum depression. This treatment helps reduce feelings of hopelessness, rage, anxiousness, or thoughts of harming oneself or one’s baby. It can also alleviate symptoms such as body aches and pains, changes in appetite, and issues sleeping or oversleeping.

“As a mother, I understand the hormone changes a woman’s body goes through during pregnancy, and I’m proud Oklahoma ER & Hospital offers a treatment to help mothers through the postpartum period in a calm, and private environment,” Judy Farrar, Chief Nursing Officer, states.

About 1 in 7 women will experience postpartum depression, and Oklahoma ER & Hospital is excited to offer Zulresso for the women who may be struggling with this common condition. Moms who took Zulresso generally still felt better 30 days after treatment began, as measured by a standard depression scale.
