Do I need to make an appointment?

No, there is no need to make an appointment for emergency medical care with Oklahoma ER & Hospital. We treat patients 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year.

It depends entirely on your condition, and we can provide an estimated cost of care before any sort of treatment if you come in for a complimentary basic medical screening.

How is Oklahoma ER & Hospital different from an urgent care center?

Oklahoma ER & Hospital differs from an urgent care center in that most urgent care centers are designed to handle non-life-threatening medical complaints. An urgent care facility is much like a doctor’s office with extended hours. Urgent care clinics are often staffed by Physician Assistants or Nurse Practitioners who are unable to treat critical patients. If a patient goes to an urgent care clinic with a life-threatening emergency, the patient will be redirected to EMS or 911.

In contrast, Oklahoma ER & Hospital is always open and is staffed by highly-trained emergency room doctors and nurses. Our micro-hospital is also equipped like a large hospital and offers onsite imaging services like X-rays, CT scans, MRI, and Ultrasound. We also offer in-house laboratory services and are equipped and staffed to treat a full range of emergencies, 24/7. Oklahoma ER & Hospital’s imaging and lab equipment is the most modern, state-of-the-art technology.

What is the average wait time?

We have virtually no wait time. In hospital-based ERs, the wait times are longer than independent facilities like Oklahoma ER & Hospital. This is due to an increase in patient volume as well as taking care of critical patients that are brought in by ambulances. Oklahoma ER & Hospital does not accept patients from 911 ambulance services. With the lower patient volume our ER physicians and registered nurses can see you promptly and efficiently, so that you are back in the comfort of your home.

Do you have a diagnostic lab onsite?

Yes, our diagnostic laboratory is both CLIA and COLA certified. We are able to perform the majority of tests hospital ERs perform. These tests are processed by Oklahoma ER & Hospital onsite, so we can get the results to you quickly. Typical turnaround time for obtaining lab results at Oklahoma ER & Hospital is around 15 minutes.

What if I need to be admitted to the hospital for further care?

We are a complete hospital, capable of meeting most of your inpatient needs. Oklahoma ER & Hospital is committed to a patient-centric approach to treat the needs of our community in a comfortable, state-of-the-art environment. We have a team of well-known, local specialists that take call for Oklahoma ER & Hospital.

For the few patients that require specialty services, we have inpatient transfer agreements and can get you directly admitted to the hospital of your choice. We will arrange prompt transfer to any hospital that you or your primary care physician prefer. We also will arrange for direct admission to an inpatient bed, completely bypassing the hospital’s emergency room. Our staff will do everything to ensure that your transfer to the hospital goes smoothly and quickly.

Do you offer radiology services?

Yes, we have X-ray, Ultrasound, CT, and MRI technology. When you require imaging services, in addition to being evaluated in real-time by the ER doctor, we also send the images electronically to an offsite radiologist so that it can be read immediately. An added benefit is that this technology provides printed radiology reports that are typically ready in about 20 minutes, which is faster than in hospital ERs. Oklahoma ER & Hospital also provides patients with CDs of their images, which are ready by the time they leave our facility.

What are the documentation required for outpatient services?

The following documentation is required for hospital outpatient services to be rendered:

1. Documentation that supports medical necessity of the outpatient service (e.g. physician’s office visit note, or progress note, etc.)

2. A signed and dated physician’s order for the outpatient service.

3. All patients without a written order will be seen through the emergency room. (emergency room charges will apply).

What insurance do you take?

Oklahoma ER & Hospital accepts commercial insurance plans and honors in-network benefits for medical emergencies. At this time, we are unable to accept government-funded insurance plans such as Medicare, Medicaid, or CHIP.

How do I know if Oklahoma ER & Hospital is considered “in network?”

According to Oklahoma guidelines, all insurance carriers must pay in-network benefits for any member seeking emergency medical treatment at an ER. Oklahoma law requires the insurance carrier to pay for your emergency care, regardless of whether the emergency room is “in network” or “out of network.” The state of Oklahoma empowers you to use the “prudent layperson standard” when considering what constitutes an emergency.

What types of payment do you take for self-pay patients?

We accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards, including Visa, MasterCard, and Discover.

What part of my bill am I responsible for?

You will be asked to pay your emergency room copay at the end of your visit.

What if I have trouble getting coverage with my insurance company?
